Featuring fretwork from John Etheridge, Trefor Owen, and Andy Hume, with Don May on violin and Bill Coleman on double bass, this set kicks off a vibrant mix of jazz classics. We open with a toe-tapping throwback: The Andrews Sisters and a little “Boogie Woogie.” Then, a rare gem — Max Hansen’s haunting take on Ich reiß mir eine Wimper aus, a piece of 1920s avant-garde jazz from the Weimar Republic. Mark Adams brings back a beloved favourite of the Ken Colyer Society: Handpicked Jazzmen from 1972, featuring Jumping Jack Guilbent and more. And to close, a heartfelt remembrance of saxophonist Michael Buckley, with music courtesy of Livia Records, Ireland.
