The World Group has a unique sound, incorporating Middle Eastern, Turkish, jazz and fusion influences. Meier’s career has included three years of touring with Jeff Beck and subsequent recordings with bassist Jimmy Haslip and Vinnie Collaiuta. The World Group offers a range of colours – Nick plays various types of guitars and the group benefits from Richard Jones’ electric violin and the keyboard wizardry of Alex Hutton. With bassist, Tom Mason and the talented percussionist, Demi Garcia-Sabat.

The Andy Kennedy Quartet is a contemporary jazz group appearing regularly at gigs in Hampshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire. MOTET delivers a danceable groove and drummer, Seb Guard, is the source of the band’s creative arrangements, with Robin Clayton (bass), David Kirby (keys) and Andy Jackson (guitar). MOTET’s horn section has Sam Parker (saxes), Tom Parsons (trumpet) and Stuart Goodburne (trombone). The band is joined by the vocalist, Debby Bracknell who has sung for artists such as Mariah Carey and Shakatak. The Joe Garland Band is group of young musicians from London who perform boisterous, groovy jazz funk and fusion in the vein of the Yellowjackets, John Scofield and Tribal Tech.

The first in a new series of monthly lunchtime trio jazz concerts at Guildford Institute in the heart of Guildford. Lunch is available from 12 to 2pm, and the performance is a single one-hour set from 2 to 3pm. This opening concert features the pianist and composer Terence Collie with Sophie Alloway on drums and Marianne Windham on bass. With sold-out shows in 2024 at prestigious venues like the 606 Club and Pizza Express Jazz Club Terence Collie captivates audiences with his virtuosity and innovative compositions. “Goddess of groove” Sophie Alloway has played drums for all the finalists in the BBC Young Jazz Musician 2024.

Celebrating Choro, the vibrant beating heart of Brazilian music, “Choro, Choro, Choro” explores music from the 1880’s to the present day by composers such as Ernesto Nazareth, Chiquinha Gonzaga, Pixinguinha, and modern masters such as Guinga and Hermeto Pascoal. Huw Warren has created several projects around the music of Brazil, including collaborations with Jovino Santos Neto, a critically acclaimed recording of Hermeto’s music in 2009 and a trio record for CAM Jazz ‘Everything in Between’ in 2019.
