The UK’s leading virtuoso accordionist Karen Street has played with a host of other well-known performers, including Bryan Ferry, Grace Jones, Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli and leading orchestras such as The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and The London Symphony Orchestra. Her ‘L’Esprit du Jazz’ Quartet plays music inspired by French swing, Latin and Tango alongside original compositions and jazz standards. Jazz pianist and composer Rob Barron has been described as “one of the most creative and versatile musicians of his generation” and is highly regarded for his improvisational flair and innate musicality that reveal influences of the American greats Cedar Walton, Wynton Kelly and Sonny Clark.  He performs regularly with visiting American jazz musicians and has featured on numerous movie soundtracks, including Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby. Completing the trio are drummer Josh Morrison and bassist Marianne Windham.

Another wonderful afternoon on Wood Street Village Green in aid of Challengers, a charity that supports disabled young people and their families. Headlining is the multi-award-winning pianist Liane Carroll, one of the UK’s most popular and dynamic vocalists, plus the James Davison & Calum Au Quintet evoking the spirit of 50’s and 60’s jazz. There’s also a set from Wood St regulars the Somethin’ Else Big Band and a first appearance on the newcomer’s stage from the Alice Milburn Quartet.
