Peter Bingham started playing clarinet in his pre-teen years and later converted to saxophone at the age of 15 in order to play in his uncle’s dance band. He ran that band after his uncle retired and also played in an organ trio. He began playing modern jazz at a jazz workshop at the West End Centre in the late 1970s. Peter’s current band Equinox, formed in 2000, has a ‘first Tuesday of the month’ residency at The Four Horseshoes, Sherfield on Loddon.

Chromatic harmonica virtuoso Phil Hopkins celebrates the richly varied musical output of the greatest jazz harmonica player Toots Thielemans. In a long career, Thielemans’ expressive harmonica added magic to the recordings of a pantheon of jazz greats including Benny Goodman, Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny and Quincy Jones. Completing the trio are the fantastic pianist Liam Dunachie and Guildford’s Marianne Windham on bass. Expect an hour of glorious swing, samba and fascinating stories of Thielemans’ life and times.

Jazz pianist and composer Rob Barron has been described as “one of the most creative and versatile musicians of his generation” and is highly regarded for his improvisational flair and innate musicality that reveal influences of the American greats Cedar Walton, Wynton Kelly and Sonny Clark. He performs regularly with visiting American jazz musicians and has featured on numerous movie soundtracks, including Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby. Completing the trio are drummer Josh Morrison and bassist Marianne Windham.

Sheena Caprice is an inspiring jazz vocalist, who began singing at the age of four. Her passion for Jazz was heavily influenced by greats such as Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Betty Carter and Nina Simone. Her performances also reflect more contemporary artists such as Rachelle Ferrell and Dianne Reeves. Sheena has performed at various venues, including Sky Lounge at Castle View Windsor.

Saxophonist and bandleader Ewen is originally from Malawi but spent his formative years in Edinburgh. He is currently based in Oxford. Amongst others, he has performed with Jim Mullen, Steve Waterman, Geoff Castle, Kenny Baker and Dave Jones. He has an MMus in Jazz performance from Birmingham Conservatoire and teaches the saxophone and Jazz Improvisation around Oxfordshire.
