‘On Her Shoulders’ | Film celebrating Refugee Week

This is not a jazz event but – since jazz-lovers tend to be, in our experience, thoughtful and inclusive types – we reckoned you’d like to be informed about these local events in celebration of Refugee Week.

There are three imminent showings of the award-winning film ‘On Her Shoulders’ followed by Q&As with refugees over three days to celebrate Refugee Week. Free refreshments will be available.

The film tells the story of Nadia Murad, a young Yazidi woman who escaped slavery by ISIS and found international fame telling the story of her people on the world stage. Her work defending Human Rights has seen her awarded the Nobel Peace Prize; the European Parliament’s Sakharov Prize; and named Glamour Magazine’s ‘Woman of the Year’.

Your attendance at one (or all) of the events will help raise awareness of refugee issues and raise funds to continue supporting refugees in Berkshire.
