This is a live jazz gig listings service from Jazz in Reading. We feature mostly modern jazz gigs happening within 20 miles or so of Reading.

The listings used to be published monthly, under the name 'Jazz Round About Reading', but all gigs now appear in the calendar, the link for which is below left. Check it out whenever you feel the urge to hear live jazz. Don't forget to refresh your browser each time you visit, to be sure of catching all latest changes or additions. Please check with venues before setting off - all details may be subject to change.

Musicians, promoters and venues should send their gig information to us via the Submit Your Gig form. Guildford Jazz at the Cricket Pavilion | Jo Fooks Quartet

Born in Edinburgh, saxophonist Jo Fooks was named ‘Young Scottish Jazz Musician of the Year’ in 1992, which led to study at the Guildhall and a scholarship to Berklee School of Music’s summer jazz program. She joined the Humphrey Lyttelton band, touring all over the UK. Her influences include Illinois Jacquet, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon & Cannonball Adderley. Jo’s big, bright sound has also been compared to Stan Getz. She has worked with some of the finest mainstream bands and artists, including Jo Harrop & Scott Hamilton. With John Pearce on piano, Buster Birch on drums and Marianne Windham on double bass for a night of classic, swinging standards and a few of her originals.

An exciting quintet led by two award-winning jazz musicians, trumpeter James Davison and trombonist Callum Au, with an evening of music bringing the atmosphere of 50’s and 60’s jazz to life. Inspired by the music of the 1960s Clark Terry/Bob Brookmeyer Quintet, the band plays a selection of originals and covers of some of the best of their repertoire. With the Sam Watts on piano and Matt Skelton on drums, and Marianne guesting on bass.

Ross Stanley

Dave Limina, Hammond organist and Chair of the Piano Department at Berklee College, meets UK pianist and organist Ross Stanley who is the two times winner of a British Jazz Award. Dave has performed and recorded all over the world with Blues Music Award winners Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters. Ross Stanley was awarded an organ scholarship at Marlborough College. He is a regular member of the Jim Mullen Organ Trio, the Mark McKnight Organ Quartet and the Jacqui Dankworth band.
