Alex, who has a Licentiate diploma from the Guildhall School of Music, plays saxophone and flute in a wide variety of ensembles including small jazz groups, big bands and folk and barn-dance bands, as well as being a saxophone teacher and co-host of the hugely popular ‘Maltings Lunchtime Jazz’ sessions at Farnham Maltings.

Henley Jazz Workshop 28 July – 1 August
28 July – 1 August 2025 – Henley Jazz Workshop for adult beginners and improvers will be holding its annual workshop at Valley Road School in Henley, featuring an impressive tutor line-up of Karen Sharp, Alex Clarke, Simon Allen and Denny Ilett, with Andy Crowdy overseeing the workshop as musical director. With emphasis on improvisation techniques, but still small-group based, this year’s places are going quickly.
The workshop culminates with an evening meal and drinks on 1 August, at the stunning Oaken Grove Vineyard in Fawley with the groups performing their favourite numbers.Please check availability before booking! Cost is £415 for the week, half price for those aged 18-25.
